TLIB3102 Adjust Rail + ARTC ETM-06-10 (PICS)
This course is delivered in two parts, each of which can be completed independently, provided that entry requirements are met.
Part 1: TLIB3102 Adjust Rail: Day 1-2 of this course covers the skills and knowledge required to adjust rail in accordance with safeworking and regulatory requirements, and workplace procedures as relevant to ARTC ETM-06-10 Stressing Plain Line CWR procedure. It includes identifying and determining the requirements for rail adjustment, undertaking rail adjustment, and completing all required documentation.
Part 2: ARTC ETM-06-10 Person in Charge of Stressing (PICS): Students who attend Day 3, will receive training in the ARTC Person In Charge of Stressing (PICS) non-accredited course, which is a mandatory requirement for working in the ARTC Rail Network in the Rail Adjuster job role.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this course at the time of publication.

Duration:
Initial face-to-face training and theory assessment:
- TLIB3102 Adjust rail: Two consecutive days, 8.00 am – 4.00 pm, in a classroom and non-live rail environment. This duration depends on the number of participants, please contact us to discuss.
- ARTC ETM-06-10 (PICS): Can be done as a third consecutive day, or at a later date. One-day, 8.00 am – 4.00 pm, in a classroom environment.
Workplace-based training and mentoring: Approximately 6 months.
Final competency assessment: On completion of the on-job component, participants must attend a half-day face-to-face competency assessment.
Work Placement requirements:
This course requires participants to:
- receive workplace-based training in the job role from an experienced and qualified workplace mentor, while working in the ARTC rail network.
- have the mentor record the participant’s progress in an On-Job Logbook.
Entry Requirements:
This course may not be suitable for everyone. Students are required to:
- be at least 18 years old at date of enrolment,
- already hold a ‘Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure – Track Work’, with the units of competency that fulfil the Track Maintainer National Role,
- have suitable employment to facilitate completion of the work experience component,
- have an experienced and qualified workplace supervisor who can mentor the participant through the work experience and Logbook requirements.

Award Received:
If a participant successfully completes all training and assessment requirements of both parts of this course, they will receive:
- Statement of Attainment – On successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for TLIB3102 Adjust Rail.
- Certificate of Achievement – Participants who have successfully completed the requirements of ARTC ETM-06-10 will receive a Certificate of Achievement for this training.
- Rail Industry Work (RIW) Card – On completion of the course, Go-Train will update participant’s RIW profile with the achieved certification. Please refer to the RIW website or contact us for further information.
