ARTC NSW Protection Officer – Levels 1 to 4

NSW Protection Officer Level 1

This training course is about correctly protecting a worksite using Controlled/Absolute Signal Blocking (C/ASB) or Lookout Working on the NSW ARTC network.

The units delivered are:

  • TLIF0027 Perform lookout duties
  • TLIF0023 Conduct track protection assessment
  • TLIL3082 Implement absolute signal blocking
  • TLIW0007 Operate under track protection rules
  • TLIW2037 Clip and secure points
  • TLIF2097 Use audible track warning devices

Duration:

Theory training and assessment: Four consecutive days, 8.00 am – 4.00 pm, in a classroom environment.

Practical training: Workplace-based, 6–9 months, maximum 12 months.

NSW Protection Officer Level 2

This course covers the rules and procedures for piloting rail traffic, plus using and compiling Track Occupancy Authority methods of worksite protection.

The units delivered are:

  • TLIL0010 Implement track occupancy authority
  • TLIC0025 Pilot rail traffic within work on track authority limits
  • TLIL4069 Plan and coordinate protection for multiple worksites within limits of a work on track authority
