UGLRL Safeworking Level 1

UGLRL Safeworking Level 1

This course is about managing track vehicle movements on the UGL Regional Linx Rail Network.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this course at the time of publication.

The units delivered are:

  • TLIC0084 Access rail track to travel track vehicles under manual block working
  • TLIF3058 Apply safeworking rules and regulations to rail functions
  • TLIW3026 Operate stand-alone signalling/point control equipment
  • TLIC0016 Identify and respond to signals and trackside signs

Duration:

Theory training and assessment: Two consecutive days, 8.00 am – 4.00 pm, in a classroom environment.

Practical training: Workplace-based, approximately 6–9 months.

Final competency assessment: On completion of the on-job component, participants must attend a one-day competency assessment at Go-Train.


Work Placement requirements:

This course requires participants to:

  • receive workplace-based training in the job role from an experienced and qualified workplace mentor, while working in the rail corridor.
  • have the mentor record the participant’s progress in an On-Job Logbook.

Entry Requirements:

This course may not be suitable for everyone. Students are required to:

  • already hold the following units of competency or their equivalent:
    • Safely access the rail corridor TLIF0020
    • Prepare to work safely in the construction industry CPCWHS1001
  • hold the relevant units of competency and have been deemed competent to work as a:
    • UGLRL Handsignaller Level 2 – NSW
    • UGLRL Track Vehicle Operator – NSW
  • hold a Compliant Certificate of Fitness – Category 1
  • have suitable employment to facilitate completion of the work experience component,
  • have an experienced and qualified workplace supervisor who can mentor the participant through the work experience and Logbook requirements.

Award Received:

If a participant successfully completes all training and assessment requirements of this course, they will receive:

  • Statement of Attainment – On successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the units of competency.
  • Certificate of Achievement – Listing the appropriate UGLRL Safeworking competency.
  • Rail Industry Work (RIW) Card – On completion of the course, Go-Train will update participant’s RIW profile with the achieved certification. Please refer to the RIW website or contact us for further information.

Currency requirements:

Due to the safety critical nature of Safeworking job roles, UGLRL requires holders of the Safeworking Level 1 certification to have their qualification re-certified every 2 years.
