ARTC NSW Handsignaller – Level 1 & 2

ARTC NSW Handsignaller Level 1

This is a general qualification for a person to be qualified and
employed as a Hand Signaller Level 1 on the ARTC network in NSW. This
course is about protecting worksites located on the network.

The units delivered are:

  • TLIF0027 Perform lookout duties
  • TLIF2082 Perform handsignaller duties
  • TLIW0007 Operate under track protection rules
  • TLIF2097 Use audible track warning devices

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to
this course at the time of publication.

Duration:

Theory training and assessment: One day, 8.00 am – 4.00 pm, in a classroom environment.

Practical training: Workplace-based, 6–9 months, maximum 12 months.

Final competency assessment: On completion of the on-job component, participants must attend a one-day competency assessment at Go-Train.

ARTC NSW Handsignaller Level 2

This is a general qualification for a person to be qualified and
employed as a Hand Signaller on the ARTC network. This course is
about conducting hand signalling duties at level crossings and
fixed signals.

The units delivered are:

  • TLIC0025 Pilot rail traffic within work on track authority
    limits
  • TLIW2037 Clip and secure points

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to
this course at the time of publication.

Theory training and assessment: Two consecutive days, 8.00 am – 4.00 pm, in a classroom environment.

Practical training: Workplace-based, 6–9 months, maximum 12 months.
