Description
This course is suitable for persons wanting to become a Locomotive Driver Second Person or Train Driver Assistant and ultimately a Locomotive Driver.
This course is completed in four stages. Stages 1-3 should be completed prior to commencing employment. Stage 4 is completed once participants have gained experience working in the industry.
Stages 1 and 2 of the course are delivered at our training rooms, with Stage 3 being delivered on site in Goulburn, or an alternatively arranged worksite.
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- complete an expression of interest form prior to enrolment
- already hold a Category One Medical
- be seeking suitable employment to facilitate completion of the work experience component
- have an experienced workplace supervisor who can mentor the participant through the work experience and Logbook requirements for Stage 4.
Delivery and Assessment
This course is delivered in a face-to-face classroom environment with participation capped at a maximum of 8 students.
Classes are run from 8am to 3:30pm daily.
Stage 1 is 10 days.
Stage 2 is 10 days.
Stage 3 is 5 days.
Stage 4 is up to 2 years.
Written and practical assessments are a requirement of this course including completion of a logbook for select units of competency.
