Our Rail Industry Safety Induction – NSW RISI training is approved by Transport for NSW, for use toward a RISI Card (RIW Card).
This training is a requirement for people wanting to work in the Transport of NSW rail corridor and applies to ARTC and UGL RL. This means that it covers all workers in the rail network between Sydney, Nowra, Lithgow and Broadmeadow.

What are the course outcomes?
On completion of the RISI training and assessment students receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit:
- TLIF0020 Safely access the rail corridor
Are there any Entry Requirements for this course?
Yes.
- You must be able to speak and understand English. You will need to pass a simple Language, Literacy and Numeracy test prior to commencement of the RISI training.
- You must have completed a Transport for NSW Category 1, 2 or 3 Medical.
Why should I do this training?
GoTrain Industry Pty Ltd is a National Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and we have been approved by Transport for NSW to deliver RISI training.
The Rail Safety Worker Induction (RSW or RISI) Training is a mandatory requirement for all contractors who perform work in the Transport for NSW rail corridors. This means basically between Sydney, Nowra, Lithgow and Broadmeadow.
RISI Card is also recognised by Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) and UGL Regional Links (UGLRL) and will allow you to safely access the rail corridor throughout NSW in the areas managed by these organisations.
When must I do the RISI training if I wish to access the Transport for NSW corridor?
You must be in possession of a current RIW card before entering Transport for NSW areas of operation. The Rail Industry Worker Program (RIW) is a national competency management framework for rail workers across Australia.
Once you have completed training your employer can apply for a RIW card via the RIW website www.riw.net.au on your behalf.
RISI Enrolment
In order to do your RISI training, you will be required to complete an enrolment form on the day of training. This form allows us to collect your personal details, what training venue and date you will be attending.
YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A CURRENT CATEGORY 1, 2 or 3 MEDICAL CERTIFICATE TO REGISTER FOR YOUR RISI/RIW CARD.
