Now available at Go Train Salisbury.
Go Train is now providing the opportunity for Queensland Rail contractors to attain their Category 3 Medical at our training centre in Salisbury. QR Contractors can now get their Medical clearance prior to completing their QR Safety Induction courses – SARC, WET and Fatigue Management with Go Train.
Queensland Rail require that all Rail Safety Workers pass a minimum Category 3 Medical before starting work in the QR rail network. A Category 3 Medical is specifically for rail workers who perform non-safety critical work and whose health and fitness does not directly impact the safety of other people within the rail network.
This level of medical includes an assessment of:
- hearing up to 2000 Hz
- vision
- mobility
- plus, a drug and alcohol screen
A Category 3 Medical is valid from issue date until the individual turns 40. Following a reassessment at this age, the Medical must be renewed every 5 years.
How much does it cost?
The cost for the Category 3 Medical assessment is $305 per person.
This fee is payable independent of the outcome of the medical assessment and must be paid prior to attending.
How long does it take?
The Category 3 Medical assessment takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Please be at our Salisbury office for a 6:30 am start. Individuals will be attended to in priority of arrival, with the last Medical session commencing at 7:30 am.
If you arrive late, you will be considered a late attendee and will have to rebook. This will incur a rebooking fee of $305.00.
Do Go-Train offer the QR Safety Induction courses?
Yes. If you are working for Queensland Rail as a contractor or employee, you will need to complete the following courses with an approved training provider, such as Go Train, before you work in the rail network:
- QR Safely Access the Rail Corridor (SARC)
- QR Working in the Electrified Territory (WET)
- TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies
On achievement of all certificates, Go Train will upload the evidence to an individual’s RIW card.
