Description
This course involves the skills and knowledge required to apply
fundamentals of track maintenance and construction, and to
carry out basic track measurement, in accordance with approved
rail industry standards, safeworking and regulatory
requirements, and workplace procedures.
It includes identifying track terminology, track components and
track tools and equipment; and undertaking basic track
measurement.
It involves the application of routine operational principles and
procedures to the fundamentals of track maintenance and
construction, as part of workplace activities across a variety of
operational contexts within the Australian rail system.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this
course at the time of publication.

This course is conducted over 1 day from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
What are the Entry Requirements?
Participants must already hold the following units of competency or certifications prior to enrolling in this course:
- TLIF0020 Safely access the rail corridor
While it is not a mandatory prerequisite for entry into this course, Go Train highly recommends that students have already completed the Seven Core Units – Accelerated Workshop and have spent a period of time working in the industry before attending the Apply Track Fundamentals course.
Will I need to undertake Work Placement?
No.
This course is delivered over one day of theory and practical training.
Do you need to bring Personal Protective Equipment?
Yes.
