GoTrain Industry is an RTO approved by the Victorian rail operators to deliver Track Safety Awareness training online.

This course will provide personal safety training for any person who is working on or around the rail track. This safety training is compulsory for any person entering a rail reserve area and when working on the track or within 3 metres of the nearest running rail.

The constant need to apply Safeworking practices when working on or about the Permanent Way (track) cannot be over emphasised because of the nature of the work and the danger, which is always present. All work on track or any time you or the machinery you are working with is in danger of being struck, or any time an obstruction is placed on the line it must be protected as prescribed by the Safeworking practices contained within the Book of Rules.

These practices provide for the sharing of track occupancy between trains and track maintenance staff in a way, which protects the safety of all persons and property whilst still allowing effective operations with minimum delays to traffic.

The course is suitable for all persons required to work on or within three metres adjacent to the Permanent Way.

Before receiving your Identification card you must:

• Upload a colour passport style ID photo to your profile.
• Upload a current Category 3 medical from an approved rail industry medical practitioner, with a completed drug screen test.
• Make sure your details within the System are up to date and include your Date of Birth and employers address.
• Study and pass the course.

Once you have studied and passed the course and we have received the above information from you, your ID card will be sent to the address listed online. You should allow 3-5 business days for delivery.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

• You will need English and Math skills equivalent to a Year 10 High School education, and the discipline to self-study.
• Stable Broadband Internet
• Active accessible email address
• Hardware as in a PC, Laptop, or notebook and a Printer/Scanner
• Programs as in Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player

If you are an employer who wishes to enrol your employees in Track Safety Awareness and be invoiced and or pay via credit card over the phone rather than paying individually via credit card or paypal please download and read the below documents.

Once your employees have studied and passed the course and we have received the above information from you, the ID cards will be sent to the addresses listed online via Australia Post.

Passing this course

To obtain your ID Card from Go Train you must satisfactorily complete the assessment requirements of Transport Safety Victoria.

We take your training seriously. So should you.

At the end of the online training you will be asked to complete 30 multiple-choice questions, which are conducted online, and are computer- assessed and moderated by our Learner Management System.

To ensure your competence in this assessment, and the course, you must achieve 100% success in each question. If you fail any question, the assessment will be reset to question 1, and that will be considered 1 attempt.

Working in the Permanent Way is High Risk Work, and we must be sure that you have the skills and knowledge to do so before issuing your ID card.

You should make detailed notes as you progress through the online training to help you in the assessment.
