SITHFAB009A Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol

Our Responsible Service of Alcohol unit (RSA) is part of the Australian Tourism and Hospitality industry's response to sterner community attitudes towards alcohol abuse. The damage that alcohol abuse causes to our community is measured in costs to the health system, our emergency services, our welfare systems, but most importantly, the family unit.

The approach by the relevant state and territory liquor licensing authorities to insist that training in the responsible service of alcohol be mandatory for all employees, at all levels, is part of the industry’s self-regulation of itself, in response to those changing community concerns. SITHFAB009A Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol

Over the last 20 years this Nationally Accredited unit has been completed by all persons involved in the sale or supply of Liquor at all levels- from wholesale producers right through to employees in the front-line. The effect that this has had on the instances of alcohol abuse has been profound, and continued mandatory training in the principles of RSA is expected to have a on-going positive effect on the Tourism and Hospitality Industries.

The liquor industry in Australia is regulated at the provincial level, and most licensing authorities approve of our online course to provide you with the ability to serve alcohol legally and responsibly under their Legislation.

Liquor Legislation across Australia can vary greatly, and is a topic that this course will cover closely. What this course will also examine is that although each State or Territory has its own distinct Liquor Acts, and in essence they all adopt for a “Harm Minimisation” approach to the sale and supply of liquor. They all aim to make not only the customer, but also the server and the licensee also more accountable for drinking behavior within their establishments.
