GoTrain Industry is an RTO approved by the national rail operator Pacific National to deliver Track Safety Awareness training online.
In addition GoTrain Industry is approved to deliver TSA training for Melbourne Metropolitan operator Metro.
Course Purpose
To provide theoretical training for all personnel who are required to work safely within three metres of the track environment.
The module provides for the safety precautions to be followed while carrying out repair and maintenance operations on or adjacent to the Permanent Way.
Learning Outcome
At the completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate and explain all the requirements and safety precautions and procedures to be followed when:
- On or about the track,
- Maintaining equipment in the field,
- Interacting with other workgroups,
- Using high visibility garments
Suitable For
The course is suitable for all persons required to work on or within three metres adjacent to the Permanent Way.
Important Information
Before receiving your certificate and or Identification card you must:
- Have your employer fill out the registration form and fax or email it to us.

- Send us a copy of a current category 3 medical and drug screen test either by fax or email.

- Make sure your details within the Learning Management System are up to date and include your Date of Birth. You can update your details by going to the MY DETAILS link when you log into the system.
- You must study and pass this unit.
Once you have studied and passed the unit and we have received the above information from you your ID card will be generated and mailed to your employer via Australia Post.
Model Health Forms
These forms are the forms that will be required to be taken to the medical provider when the person seeking Track Safety Awareness attends for the appropriate medical. Although your medical provider should supply these, there are sections that need to be completed by your employer.

Medical Providers
The medical provider who provides your medical assessments must be approved by the Dept of Infrastructure Vic and/ or the Track Manager i.e. Connex and PacificNational. Medicals provided by non-approved medical providers will not be accepted.
The steps to obtain a medical assessment for persons seeking TSA training and qualification are as follows:
- Contact HSA on 03 9224 8381, advise the type of medical required (SCW1, 2, or 3), and the persons details.
- HSA will advise the nearest medical practitioner, the date and time of the appointment and the fee.
- HSA will provide and monitor all required paperwork
- Upon completion of the medical HSA will advise the employer and Go-Train Rail in writing of the outcome, including any comment if the medical outcome is unsatisfactory (i.e. Positive drug screen, or 'Not Fit for Duty'.)
- Once a written satisfactory outcome is received for the person, Go-Train Rail will initiate the enrolment of the person in the appropriate TSA training course.
